Jade phoenix with peach spray and fungus, Qing dynasty, China, probably first half of 18th century.
A white jade figure of a phoenix retaining the form of the crescent shaped pebble. One side has extensive traces of the bright russet skin. The bird is shown sitting, its head turned with a fruiting peach bough in its beak. There is a clump of fungus at its back with its long tail feathers curled to one side.
