Gourd moulded to the shape of a cube, China, mid-18th century. Qing dynasty small square gourd of yellowish colour moulded in low relief with a cow and a cowherd in a landscape on one side, with a fairy and a pagoda on the opposite side separated by a cricket on bamboo and a cricket on a vine on the remaining sides. The mould is of a reusable type typical of the period as evidenced by traces of mould joins on the piece.
