Jade human mask, neolithic, Hongshan type, northern China, c3500-2200 BC. A human mask made from blackish-grey and green jade with brown patches. There is a single horizontal ox-nose type perforation on the reverse in the interior of which is extensive alteration build up which cannot be faked and which takes centuries to occur.
