Globular stoneware jar with red oil spot glaze, Song dynasty, China, 13th century.
Globular stoneware jar with red oil spot glaze, Song dynasty, China, 13th century. A globular jar with small mouth on top of circular neck. The base is flat and unglazed to reveal a fine grained light brown body with two characters 'Yung Tai' in black ink. The outside and inside of the neck is covered with a light reddish brown glaze extensively mottled with small reddish oil spots to give an overall rust appearance.
