When Cat Meets Cat; or, Kilkenny Aboo!!!, 1879. Artist: Joseph Swain
When Cat Meets Cat; or, Kilkenny Aboo!!!, 1879. A bunch of cats, each with a tail of a cat o' nine tails, squabble and fight over the Army Discipline Bill. This relates to the debate over corporal punishment in the forces. There were now many MPs agitating for flogging in the forces to be abolished. The Irish contingent in the House, including Messrs Parnell and Callan used the new Obstruction tactics to protract the debate. From Punch, or the London Charivari, July 19, 1879.
