Pierre Curie, French physicist, (c1924). Pierre Curie (1859-1906) was a pioneer in the study of crystallography, magnetism, piezoelectricity and radioactivity. In 1898, he and his wife Marie isolated radium from pitchblende. They were awarded the Nobel Prize in physics in 1903.
