Barnabe Brisson, 16th century French philologist and jurist. Brisson (1531-1591) became President of the Parliament (Parlement) of Paris in 1588. He was executed by extreme members of the Catholic Holy League while their leader, Charles of Lorraine, Duke of Mayenne, was absent from the city.
