The pediment over the doorway of the Convent of Saint Clare, Caceres, Spain, 2007. Artist: Samuel Magal
The pediment over the doorway of the Convent of Saint Clare, Caceres, Spain, 2007. This building was founded by Lady Aldonza Torres Golfin between 1593 and 1614. It is currently occupied by Clare nuns of the Order of Saint Francis. The doorway of the church dates from the end of the 17th century. It is topped by a lintel and an entablature supported by corbels. Above the entablature there is a triangular pediment interrupted by a nich with a statue. To the side of the pediment are the shields of the families that sponsored the construction. On the corner of the building is the coat of arms of Lady Aldonza Torres Golfin.
