Low angle view of the main entrance, the covered towers, and the mighty remparts of Castelvecchio, 1354-79, Verona, Italy. The castle, built with its bridge, for Cangrande II, stands on the probable site of a Roman fortress. The castle, where Napoleon stayed, was damaged  during the Pasque Veronesi, Napoleonic Wars (1796-97). Castelvecchio was restored in 1923 and 1963-65. Picture by Manuel Cohen.
