Cathedral and city, Seville, Andalusia, Spain, 2007. Artist: Samuel Magal
Cathedral and city, Seville, Andalusia, Spain, 2007. Looking towards the city over the rooftops of Seville Cathedral, built between 1401 and 1519 on the site previously occupied by the city's Almohad mosque. It used elements of the mosque in its construction, including the bell tower, the Giralda, which had previously been a minaret. Built to be a demonstration of Seville's wealth, it is the largest medieval Gothic cathedral.
