Tomb of Gisant d’Evrard de Fouilloy, bishop of Amiens 1211-22, who laid the first stone of the cathedral in 1220, bronze, 13th century,
in the Basilique Cathedrale Notre-Dame d'Amiens or Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Amiens, built 1220-70 in Gothic style, Amiens, Picardy, France. The bishop's head rests on a cushion and his eyes are open, awake to eternal life. His right hand gestures in blessing and his left hand helds his crozier (now lost).
