Sculpted wooden Medusa head from the door between the horseshoe vestibule and the Galerie Francois I, Chateau de Fontainebleau, France. The Galerie Francois I was begun in 1528 and was the first great gallery in France and the origination of the Renaissance style in France. The Palace of Fontainebleau is one of the largest French royal palaces and was begun in the early 16th century for Francois I. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981.
