The Aljaferia Palace, Zaragoza, Spain, 2007. This fortified Moorish palace was built in the 11th century. After Zaragoza was recaptured by the Christians in 1118 it became the residence of the Kings of Aragon. It was badly damaged during the Siege of Zaragoza in the Peninsular War but was extensively restored in the second half of the 20th century. Today the palace houses the legislative assembly of the autonomous community of Aragon.
