San Martin Church, Segovia, Spain, 2007. Artist: Samuel Magal
San Martin Church, Segovia, Spain, 2007. The blind arcade of the apse. Mozarabic in origin, the present building of this church is Romanesque with apses decorated in Romanesque style and a doorway at the end of the church with beautifully decorated archivolts. An atrium surrounds the church on three of its sides. It has round arches resting on columns with Roman capitals. The capitals are decorated with vegetal motifs and fabulous animals. Two columns share the same capital. Engaged double columns also flank the blind arcades of the apse.
