Mausoleum of the Samanids, 9th-10th century, Bukhara, Uzbekistan, pictured on July 11, 2010 reflected in a pool by the late afternoon light. Built of kiln-dried bricks by Ismail Samani for his father Nasr I, who died in 892, it is recognized as architectural masterpiece of the world heritage due to harmony of its geometrical forms. Bukhara, a city on the Silk Route is about 2500 years old. Its long history is displayed both through the impressive monuments and the overall town planning and architecture.
