Blue and white vase with magpies, early Kangxi period, Qing dynasty, China, 1662-1677. A blue and white vase with a slightly tapering body, everted mouth and flaring foot. The main section is decorated with magpies amid pines, bamboo and prunus sprays with an inscribed poem bordered above and below with a band of wet-drawn splashes typical of the period. The neck is decorated with rocks and chrysanthemus.
