Wucai covered jar with banquet scene, early Kangxi period, Qing dynasty, China, 1662-1677.
A covered jar with globular body decorated with a design of a garden scene with ladies dancing. The scene is bordered above by a band of wet-drawn splashes typical of the period and a wide band of chrysanthemum and peony sprays separated by rocks, all in wucai (5 colour) enamels. The cover shows children at play bordered by rocks and trees. The base is unglazed.
