White ware bowl with moulded twin fish and floral pattern, Jin dynasty, China, 12th century. A whiteware bowl with shallow unglazed footrim and conical body. The interior is divided into six panels decorated with lotus, magnolia and prunus sprays. The central medallion shows two fish swimming amid weeds emblematic of maritial harmony. The exterior is undecorated. The bowl is covered with characteristic ivory white glaze.
