Edwin Arnold (1832-1904), British orientalist, poet and journalist, c1890. Arnold became leader writer for The Daily Telegraph in 1861, and the newspaper's chief editor in 1873. His best-known poem is 'The Light of Asia', an epic dealing with the life and teachings of the Buddha, published in 1879.
