Bronze spotted dog-like animal, Tang dynasty, China, 618-906. A bronze spotted dog-like animal, the head resting on one paw and slightly turned to the left. The eyes are well defined under beetling brows, the back legs, one under the body, the other to one side with the tail looped over it. The paws are well defined, and the curving backbone knobbily with clusters of fine incised hairs on each side of the spine. The body is decorated with groups of three incised round dots.
