Octagonal famille verte stem cup with birds and flowers of the seasons, mid Kangxi period, Qing dynasty, China, 1683-1700. A famille verte stem cup of octagonal shape, ridged and splayed at base, with green enamel ring and underglaze blue borders also outlining the eight panels. It is decorated in an overglaze famille verte palette with (i) magnolia and blue birds, (ii) chrysanthemum and butterfly, (iii) narcissus and blue birds, (iv) gold flowers and butterfly, (v) green prunus and birds, (vi) peony and butterfly, (vii) prunus and birds, (viii) ducks, lotus and butterfly.
