Blue and white ginger jar in underglaze blue and red, early Kangxi period, Qing dynasty, China, 1662-1677. A large ginger jar painted in underglaze blue and red with birds in flight and perched on branches of a cherry tree a rock with pheasant separating from a magnolia in full bloom and peonies. There are narrow borders of prunus, peony and chrysanthemum on the shoulder and round the bottom. The base has a 6 character underglaze blue Jiajing mark written in two lines horizontally in a double circle.
