Covered jar in aubergine, brown and yellow glazes on a green ground, Ming dynasty, China, 1st half of 16th century. A covered jar with a globular body and short straight neck. The emerald-green glazed body is incised with lotus scrolls in yellow, brown and pale aubergine. A ruyi band collar is incised on the shoulder and there are stylised flames round the unglazed base. The cover is decorated with yellow double circles on a green ground. The mosque-dome shaped knob is also in yellow.
