Pair of painted lacquer dishes with birds amid flowers, Ming dynasty, China, late 16th -early 17th century. A pair of painted lacquer dishes with everted rims, one of which is painted with two cranes among prunus and peony sprays and the other with two birds amid prunus and peach sprays. Both dishes are covered with brownish lacquer. The outline on one of the dishes is highlighted in gold.
