A shallow bowl from Jiexiu kiln, Shanxi province, with greyish brown body, the interior of which is decorated with a moulded design of lion-like animals among spiky foliage bordered above by lozenge patterns and by wave patterns below. The bowl is covered inside and out with a dark brownish green glaze except for the lower portion of the exterior, the base and a circular band for stacking near the centre of the interior, which encircles a glazed spiral flower.
