Yaozhou celadon bowl with carved peonies, Northern Song dynasty, China, 11th century. A Yaozhou celadon shallow circular bowl. The exterior is deeply carved with two peony flower heads with leaves on each side, the interior is plain. The celadon glaze is a rich greyish green colour. The base shows the oily brown finish generally seen on the pieces from this kiln.
