Cloisonne enamel paper weight with gilt bronze kui dragon applique, Late Ming dynasty, China, c1600. A cloisonne paperweight in the shape of a ruler. The surface is decorated with various flower blossoms in yellow, red, blue and aubergine on a 'cracked-ice' turquoise ground. The top of the paperweight has attached a gilt bronze kui dragon with foliated tail, pronounced claws and a snarling mouth.
