Soup plate with the arms of Lambton, Qing dynasty, China, c1735. An armorial soup plate with broad everted rim decorated in its centre with the arms of Lambton as borne by the Earls of Durham. The arms consist of three rams on a black ground with a white horizontal central bar within a shield. The rim is decorated with eight floral groups in red, brown, green, turquoise and blue overglaze enamels with gilding; the cavetto has pendant tassels.
