Pale aubergine glazed saucer, Yongzheng period, Qing dynasty, China, 1723-1735.
A pale aubergine glazed saucer dish. The shallow flared sides are engraved on the underside with a continuous band of pomegranates growing from scrolled stems with many curled leaves. Chinese records show that dishes of this colour and design were supplied to the Qing imperial palace in 1729.
