Bronze spearhead with taotie pattern, Western Zhou-early Eastern Zhou dynasty, China, 8th century BC. A bronze spearhead, the blade section is comparatively short with a stubby point. The long handle section is decorated on both sides with three taotie masks, one on top of the other. The piece is typical of southwest China, particularly Sichuan province.
