Drum-shaped waterwell and dropper, Southern Song-early Yuan dynasty, China, 13th century.
Northern black-glazed drum-shaped waterwell and dropper, Southern Song-early Yuan dynasty, China, 13th century. A waterwell and waterdropper combined in the shape of a circular drum with small open mouthed fish head as spout. The putty coloured body is covered to 3/4 of its depth with a thick black glaze with metallic rust-brown flecks swirling round the small central hole in the top like a chrysanthemum flower, further brown flecking on the sides.
