Wordsworth-Smith, 1896 This vessel (1, 200 tons), was wrecked on Portland Shambles, 5 February, 1805, with the loss of nearly 300 persons and a cargo valued at ??200, 000. The captain, who went down with it, was John Wordsworth, younger brother of the poet, who alludes to him in hisLines on apicture of Peel Castle in a storm, and again inThe fir grove path andNature and thepoet.
