Portrait of the author, Major-General Sir Rober Rollo Gillespie, Sir Robert Rollo Gillespie (1766?'1814) was an officer in the British army. In 1786 he was involved in a duel in which he killed the opposing duelliSt The verdict was 'justifiable homicide' and Gillespie was acquitted. He saw action during the French revolutionary wars and in India, where he was killed. He shouted, One shot more for the honour of Down' while leading a charge. A Nepalese sharpshooter shot him through the heart.' Author Sir Robert Rollo Gillespie.
