Chiesa di San Salvatore in Onda, interior, looking towards altar, restored 19th century, Rome, Italy. The Church's name derives from the waters of the nearby River Tiber. Although the crypt dates to the 8th century and lower basements are Roman, the main church was rebuilt and restored many times. The interior, restored 1860-78 by Luca Carimini, has 3 naves divided by antique columns of varying marble. San Salvatore is the headquarters of the Pallottine movement founded by St Vicenzo Pallotti (1795-1850), who is buried beneath the altar.
