Last Gothic Cathedral in Spain, commissioned by Carlos V (1500-58), after an earlier cathedral was damaged in the Revolt of the Comuneros, 1520. Cathedral consecrated, 1768. Ground plan has three naves surrounded by chapels. The interior is lit by Flemish windows, 16th-17th century, and centres on Gothic choir (15th century).
