The chateau was originally built in 1060 and although the current building has a medieval drawbridge and basement, it is mainly Renaissance in style, having been remodelled in the 16th and 19th centuries. It is a small, dry-moated castle located near Saumur and is surrounded by 30 hectares of vineyards, seen here in the foreground. It is a listed monument historique and part of the Loire Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site.
