The Great Hall, on the first floor, was the main public area of the chateau where balls and feasts were held. It has a huge chimney piece carved with a salamander, symbol of King Francois I. The ceiling is in French style with wooden beams and coffers, and the walls are decorated with 17th century tapestries depicting Old Testament scenes.
