The Wheel of Fortune
The Wheel of Fortune a coloured wood-engraving representing the several stages of human life. Image taken from 'Rota uite que fortuna uocatur.' An early Wood-engraving, coloured, pasted on the inside of the right-hand cover of a folio volume, -representing the several stages of human life: in the centre a figure turning the Wheel of Fortune, on the inner circle of which are inscribed the words quoted above; in the lower part an Angel holding in each hand a scroll, with the words: Generatio: Corruptio, between which at the side of the figure is the word clav, with the following device | below it. Originally published/produced in [1460?].
