A prince enters a citadel, A prince enters a citadel with ceremony. The state entry of a prince into a citadel. He rides upon a caparisoned elephant beneath a canopy with his entourage on horseback and foot. Three elephants follow with ladies in purdah; two archways lead to the crenellated bridge which traverses the lake on the right and there is landscape in the distance. Opaque watercolour. Lucknow style. Gouache with gold; backed with grey paper. Originally published/produced in c.1780
