Preparation of halwa for the Sultan Ghiyath al-Din. Ghiyath Shahi kneeling on a stool watching two cooks. Out of doors scene with a night sky. One cook stirring a gold cooking pot on a stove, the other one dishing up from a gold pot into a blue and white ceramic dish. Section deals with halva and 'paluda'. Opaque watercolour. Sultanate style. Image taken from The Ni'matnama-i Nasir al-Din Shah. A manuscript on Indian cookery and the preparation of sweetmeats, spices etc. Originally published/produced in 1495 - 1505.
