The dying Dara, One of two miniatures, much cut about and discoloured, both representing the dying Dara comforted by Iskandar. Each 20 by 11cm but the original miniatures smaller than the space now occupied. Opaque watercolour. Safavid/Shiraz style. Image taken from Shahnama of Firdausi, with 4 inserted miniatures.. Originally published/produced in 1550 - 1575.
