The Temple of Hera at Olympia, Greece. Artist: Samuel Magal
The Temple of Hera at Olympia, Greece. The Temple of Hera (also known as Heraion) is an ancient Doric Greek temple. It was destroyed by an earthquake in the early 4th century AD. Olympia, a sanctuary of ancient Greece, is probably best known for having been the site of the Olympic Games in classical times. The modern Olympic flame is ignited at the site where the temple of Hera used to stand.
