The first airbourne english channel crossing, on January 7th, 1785, Mr Blanchard & Dr Jefferies departing from Dover with the balloon, for the continent. Jean-Pierre Blanchard, with John Jeffries, an American, were the first men to cross the English Channel by balloon, from Dover to Calais.
