Young woman bringing a present, [Whole drawing] The woman of Tahiti is dressed in the manner called 'Atee'; her body is wrapped in a large quantity of cloth, and decorated with two 'Taames' or breastplates. The cloth and breastplates are to be offered a gifts. Cook records in his journal that two women were conducted on board the ship, and the cloth and breastplates, together with pigs and fruit, were offered to Cook as a present from the father of Otoo.
