Luttrell Psalter
Psalm 34; Grotesques, Whole folio. Psalm 34. Border decoration with grotesques; a man with the upper body of a bearded man wearing a half-length cloak and a blue cloth tied around his head with two flying swags of drapery billowing above his head, and hindquarters of a beast with cloven hoofs. In the lower margin, a small bird grotesque, and a male figure with a demon's head, who sits with his back turned, his legs stretched in front of him, and his arm raised to shield his face. Image taken from the Luttrell Psalter. Originally produced in England [East Anglia]; circa 1325-1335.
