Carved decoration in Mirhab of the Ben Youssef Madrasa, Medina, Marrakech, Morocco. The Madrasa is an Islamic theological college founded in the 14th century and rebuilt by the Saadians in the 1560s. It is named after the Almoravid Sultan Ali ibn Yusuf, who reigned 1106-42. The mihrab is a niche indicating the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca for prayer and is intricately carved.
