The Annunciation [Whole folio] Preface to the blessing for the First Sunday in Advent. The Annunciation. The Angel appears to the Virgin who is seated under a domed baldachino a symbol of the heavens indicating her eminence as the Mother of ChriSt She is shown reading with her right hand on an open book and holding a golden object in her left hand. The Angel's right hand is raised in benediction and he bears a sceptre in his left hand. The miniature is surrounded by a frame of 'Winchester' acanthus with four bosses.
