Milking
Milking. Section on the use of milk in 'kashk' (pottage) and the feeding of cows. The high horizon, heavy vegetation are features of the Persian Shiraz Turkman style of the late 15th century. The small cursive inscription 'gav u shir' (cow and milk) above the top margin are probably instructions to the artiSt Opaque watercolour. Sultanate style. Image taken from The Ni'matnama-i Nasir al-Din Shah. A manuscript on Indian cookery and the preparation of sweetmeats, spices etc. Originally published/produced in 1495 - 1505.
