A lady in morning deshabille
A lady in morning deshabille, 'A lady in morning deshabille, lounging on a sofa, playing with her dog'. [Description] A Polish style caraco; it requires a good figure to carry this off. A cape can be added but this detracts from its lightness. The sky-blue taffeta is tied with a rosette which serves as a satisfaction (a suggestive term to denote the bow or fastening at the breast). The lady is waiting to get dressed, or for an assignation. Image taken from Galerie des modes et costumes francais, dessines d'apres nature. 1778-1787. Reimpression accompagnee d'une preface parM. Paul Cornu. [With a frontispiece.] Originally published/produced in Paris, 1911-14.
