Pleasure house at Voorst
Pleasure house at Voorst, Pleasure house of his Excellency the Earl of Albemarle at Voorst (1700). The layout of the house and gardens bore a close resemblance to those at Het Loo. The gardens had similar flowerbeds (or parterres) that were best viewed from the raised terraces surrounding them or from the gallery on top of the roof of the house. A sequence of ponds with fountains led to a colonnade (or exedra) with a view through to a distant monument . As at Het Loo, there was even a small topiary green cabinet' to the right of the house.
